Version 2.40.2 of the New Next Lab is now available, introducing a faster authentication option and additional protection for user accounts.

Sign up and sign in with Google

Users can now create an account or sign in using their Google account. Our new Google OAuth integration is available on both the sign-up and sign-in screens through the Continue with Google button.

Existing users can also use this option. When the email address associated with their Google account matches the email address of their existing New Next Lab account, the accounts will be linked automatically.

Improved reCAPTCHA validation

We have also expanded our reCAPTCHA validation to the sign-in screen. When additional verification is required, users will now see a puzzle challenge designed to prevent automated and malicious sign-in attempts.

These improvements make accessing the New Next Lab faster, easier, and more secure.

We’re releasing Next Lab 2.40.1, a small but important update focused on strengthening the signup experience and preventing bot-generated accounts.

This release includes a retooling and fix of our reCAPTCHA v3 implementation on the signup screen. The update improves how Next Lab validates signup activity through the reCAPTCHA API, helping us better detect suspicious automated behavior while keeping the experience smooth for real users.

What’s Improved

With this update, we refined the way reCAPTCHA v3 is integrated into the signup flow. The API implementation has been adjusted to work more reliably and ensure that signup requests are properly evaluated before new accounts are created.

This helps protect the platform from unwanted bot signups and improves the overall security and quality of user registrations.

Why This Matters

Bot signups can create noise, affect data quality, and introduce unnecessary risk into the platform. By improving the signup protection layer, Next Lab becomes more resilient while maintaining a frictionless experience for legitimate users.

Because reCAPTCHA v3 works in the background, users can continue signing up without needing to complete extra visible challenges in most cases.

New Next Lab 2.40.0: Voice Context for Sprint Reports and Clearer AI Report Consent

We’re excited to announce the release of New Next Lab 2.40.0, focused on making report generation more useful, transparent, and aligned with customer security expectations.

This release introduces two important improvements to AI-powered reporting: the ability to add voice input as additional context for Sprint Report Generation, and a new AI Report Consent acknowledgment that clearly informs users when external AI providers are used to generate reports.

Voice Input as Context for Sprint Report Generation

Sprint Reports are more valuable when they reflect the full context of the work, including insights that may not always be captured in written notes, uploaded resources, or structured session content.

With this release, users can now add voice input as context when generating Sprint Reports.

This makes it easier to include spoken reflections, facilitator observations, team discussions, or additional background that can help the AI produce a richer and more accurate report. Instead of relying only on existing written materials, teams can now quickly capture important context verbally and include it as part of the report generation process.

This is especially useful when:

• Facilitators want to add nuance after a sprint or working session
• Teams have important discussion points that were not fully documented
• Additional context is easier to explain verbally than write manually
• Sprint Reports need to better reflect the reasoning, decisions, and insights behind the work

The goal is simple: make Sprint Reports more complete, more contextual, and easier to generate.

New AI Report Consent Acknowledgment

This release also introduces a new consent step for AI-powered report generation.

When a user attempts to generate a Session Report or Sprint Report for the first time, New Next Lab will now display a clear security and privacy notice explaining that report generation uses external AI providers to process report context.

These providers may include services such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Mistral.

The consent notice explains that contextual data, including session content, transcripts, uploaded resources, and report-related metadata, may be transmitted to external AI providers for processing in order to generate the report.

Users must explicitly choose whether to accept or decline this processing.

What Happens When Users Accept or Decline?

If a user accepts the AI Report Generation Notice, their consent is stored persistently, and report generation proceeds normally.

If a user declines, AI-powered report generation will remain unavailable, and the system will clearly explain that reports cannot be generated without consent to AI data processing.

Once consent has been accepted, users will not be asked again for future reports unless policies or provider configurations change.

This helps reduce repeated prompts while still ensuring that users are informed before using AI-powered reporting features.

Why This Matters

AI-powered reports are a powerful part of New Next Lab, helping teams turn sessions, sprints, transcripts, resources, and related context into useful summaries and insights.

At the same time, transparency matters.

Organizations need to understand when external AI providers are involved, what kind of information may be processed, and how that processing relates to platform privacy and security policies.

The new consent acknowledgment is designed to make this behavior clear before report generation begins, giving users and organizations greater visibility and control over AI-powered features.

Looking Ahead

Version 2.40.0 strengthens the foundation for more flexible, transparent, and trustworthy AI reporting in New Next Lab.

You can now add resources directly when creating a new drill. This improvement makes the drill setup process smoother by allowing teams to attach the materials they need at the moment they are defining the activity.

Instead of creating a drill first and adding resources later, facilitators can now keep everything connected from the beginning.

Better support for copying sessions and sprints

We’ve improved the way sessions and sprints are duplicated so that related resources are carried over more reliably.

When copying or duplicating sessions and sprints, Next Lab now takes into account the resources connected to sessions and agenda items. This helps teams reuse existing work with less manual setup and fewer missing materials.

Improved agenda experience on touch screens

This release fixes an issue with drag-and-drop interactions on touch screens when working with session agendas.

Users on tablets and other touch-enabled devices should now have a smoother experience when organizing agenda items.

Translation fixes

We fixed an issue where some locales were showing “translation missing” messages.

This update improves the experience for users working in different languages and helps ensure the interface displays the correct translated content.

Report generation fix

We resolved an issue that prevented report generation from working correctly for a specific user account.

This fix improves the reliability of the reporting workflow and helps ensure users can generate the reports they need without interruption.

🛡️ More resilient AI generation

Report generation is now more reliable.

If a configured AI provider experiences temporary issues, rate limits, or timeouts, the system can automatically fall back to another available provider, reducing report failures and improving completion rates.

📎 Sprint Resources as AI context

Sprint Reports can now use Sprint Resources as additional context during report generation.

This gives the AI more information to work with and helps produce richer, more accurate summaries and recommendations.

After a Sprint Report has been generated, you can now:
